TESTIMONIALS

I’ve been blessed with an assortment of wonderful students of all ages and backgrounds in my workshops and camps. Beachcombing never fails to bring out the best in them. Walking along a shoreline searching for treasures in the sand is relaxing. Learning how to research the background or history of the artifacts later re-awakens a sense of wonder at the amazing world in which we live.

Families that arrive for class stressed end up laughing and lighthearted. Shy teens who ignore each other at first end up swapping beach finds and phone numbers midway through. Grandparents discover an easy, inexpensive activity to do with their grandchildren. Hopefully, the time my students spend with me on a beach enhances their lives and seashore experiences for years to come.

A College Student
"I went beachcombing with Dr. Beachcomb on the cloudiest, rainiest day in June and I managed to have a treasure-filled day at the beach. The experience was engaging and fun and I really learned a lot. I'm currently studying in London and had a chance to beachcomb along the Thames River (yuck!) a few weeks ago. If it hadn't been for some of the lessons she taught me, like taking the time to really see what's right in front of me, and being able to recognize the cool stuff from the junk, I wouldn't have noticed many of the great ceramic pieces I found along the shore of London's river. Thanks so much, Dr. Beachcomb!"

Middle School Student
"I like that I can pick out exactly what I like—quartz and oyster shells—and not care what other kids think of my choices."

Single Parent
"… the beachcombing lessons portrayed through Dr. Beachcomb's workshops have transformed my little girl into a more peaceful, stress free child with a perspective most adults rarely achieve. She has discovered that "Peace" is not something you purchase. It's something you find while walking on the beach."

Parent of Two
"My girls attended Dr. Beachcomb's summer camp and had so much fun that when we went sailing in Italy a few weeks later, all they wanted to do was beachcomb. So every morning, we packed a lunch and took them to different beaches, returning to the boat afterwards to sort, compare and trade our finds. The girls were never interested in shopping for souvenirs. Now I have a big bowl filled with beautiful sea glass, Tuscan pottery shards and wonderful family memories."
