3. Two alternative dates (if possible)
4. Your name and phone number.

SCHEDULING

There are no specific dates for workshops. Select the workshop you want for your group, then contact Dr. Beachcomb to set up a date.

With sufficient lead time and depending on the tides, sessions can be scheduled any day of the week year round. Fall, winter, and spring are the most ideal times to shore explore.

Participants in "kids-only" camps must be at least 8 years old.

TOPICS and ACTIVITIES

Topics/activities are based on past excursions, and the nature of Dr. Beachcomb's current research. However, she is always open to learning new things and can tailor a session to specific requests.


GEAR

Unless otherwise noted, all participants are responsible for their lunch, water, sun block, in season clothing (jackets, hats, scarves, boots, etc.) and field trip transportation.

Wear shorts, pants, shifts, or jackets with deep pockets or bring a sturdy canvas tote to hold beach treasures.

In colder seasons, wear waterproof shoes or boots, and bring a change of socks.

 

PRICING

Prices are based on a flat group fee of 8 participants or less for workshops, and 6 participants or less for camps. Camps also include a $15 supply fee. Additional participants can be added $40.00 each.

Special Disount Rates for Seniors 65 and older, youth organizations, and school groups. Gift certificates are also available at a 10% discount.

Learning-intensive 4-7 hour workshops

 

A. Prehistoric Fossils, Rocks, Corals, and Shells
5-6 hrs, $400 for up to 8 participants
Includes Calvert County, MD field trip
Optional museum tour, add $5 each

 

B. A Slice of History Along Chesapeake Bay
4 hours, $300 for up to 8 participants
Chesapeake Bay beaches
Add $5 for Optional museum tour of Frederick Douglas's
son's summer home at historic Highland Beach

 

C. All About Beach Glass
6 hrs, $400 for up to 8 participants
Field Trip to different MD, VA and DE beaches

 

D. Shark Hunt! Shark, Skate, Dolphin Fossils
5 hours, $350 for up to 8 participants
field-trip to Calvert County beaches


Explorer Arts Camps

For kids of all ages.
2-3 hr beachcombing/craft sessions for up to 5 people.
$225 group fee, plus optional $10 supply fee per person
